No question too big, no question too small

You have questions.
We have answers.

Everything you need to know about grooming, boarding, pricing, your first visit, anxious pets, and cats. Still have one? Ask Sage — text 844-779-2351, 24/7 — or call us at 972-727-1688.

Booking

Three easy ways: book online 24/7 at barkandpurrgrooming.com/booking.html, call or text our assistant Sage (call 844-335-5671 · text 844-779-2351), or call us directly at 972-727-1688 during business hours. Sage is available 24/7 — no waiting, no hold music.

For regular visits, 1–2 weeks ahead is usually enough. For holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother’s Day weekend), book 4–6 weeks out — spots fill quickly. Our regulars often rebook at pickup, and Den Club members get priority booking.

Yes — and we encourage it. Consistent groomer relationships are part of what we build here. Request a groomer in the booking notes or at check-in; we honor all requests based on availability and let you know if your groomer is unavailable.

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule, so we can offer the spot to a waitlisted pet. Life happens — just call or text as soon as you can. Repeated no-shows may require a deposit at future bookings.

Monday–Saturday 9am–7pm, Sunday 10am–6pm. Last appointments vary by service length — the booking system shows live availability, and Sage takes bookings 24 hours a day even when we’re closed.

Services

Breed-appropriate shampoo and conditioning bath, professional blow-dry, brush-out, haircut to your specifications, nail trim, ear cleaning, a three-point wellness check, and a bandana or bow at the end. The bandana is not optional — the dogs have spoken.

No. Cage drying is not part of our process. Every pet is hand-dried by a team member — more time-intensive, but safer, less stressful, and a significantly better coat result, especially for curly and double coats.

Every groom includes a three-point check: ears (infection, wax, mites), eyes (discharge, cloudiness, irritation), and skin and coat (lumps, hot spots, parasites, unusual thinning). If anything warrants a vet visit, we’ll tell you clearly at pickup with notes you can share. We’ve caught things early for a lot of our regulars.

Teeth brushing, blueberry facial, de-shedding treatment, de-matting, nail grinding (Dremel), paw balm, and medicated/therapeutic shampoo treatments. Ask about add-ons when you book or at check-in.

Pricing

By service type, pet size, and coat condition. See all pricing on the pricing page or get an instant estimate with our cost estimator — and the booking system shows your price before you confirm. Additional fees may apply for de-matting, very thick or double coats, or extra handling time.

Yes — de-matting is charged separately when it requires significant added time. Severe matting that can’t be safely removed without pain leads to a recommendation for a shorter cut to start fresh. We always explain this before we start and get your agreement. We never surprise anyone at checkout.

Join the Den Club — members save on every groom, get priority booking, and boarding discounts. If your pet comes in regularly, membership pays for itself quickly. Regular grooming also costs less long-term: coats in good condition take less time to maintain.

Your first visit

Proof of current Rabies vaccination (a copy or photo works). Beyond that — any health notes, known allergies, or a photo of the style you want. Don’t pre-bathe your dog; just bring them as they are. Arriving a couple minutes early lets your pet sniff around the lobby before check-in.

Right here. Note in the booking that it’s a first-time experience and we’ll allocate extra time, take the introduction slowly, and treat the appointment as a trust-building session first. A perfect haircut on visit one is a bonus — earning your pet’s trust is the actual goal.

We recommend stepping out — most pets settle significantly faster when their owner isn’t in the building (they mirror our anxiety). Grab a coffee nearby; we’ll text you when they’re ready. Most pickups are 2–5 hours from drop-off depending on service.

For grooming: current Rabies required (Bordetella recommended). For boarding: Rabies and Bordetella both required. Records are kept on file after the first visit, so you don’t have to bring them again.

Anxious pets

Yes — this is a specialty. Note in the booking that your dog is anxious. We use Fear-Free techniques and Tranquil Tail Grooming® methods, and we never force or rush a scared dog. Many of our most loyal regulars came to us after being turned away or having bad experiences elsewhere.

Fear-Free is a professional certification that trains pet professionals to prioritize a pet’s emotional wellbeing alongside physical care — reading body language, reducing fear triggers, modifying techniques for anxious animals, and building trust. Every groomer at Bark & Purr holds an active Fear-Free certification.

Our proprietary method, developed by Linda, built around one principle: the pet’s emotional state is part of the groom. Slow hands, soft voices, regular check-ins with the animal, breaks when needed, and reading body language at every step. It’s the method that turns first-timers into regulars.

Cats

Yes — we’re one of the only full-service cat studios in Collin County. We schedule dedicated cat-only windows so your cat isn’t surrounded by barking dogs or unfamiliar smells. Quiet hands, low-stress handling, and groomers who understand feline behavior. That alone changes everything.

By hair type and size, starting from $75 for a full cat groom, with packages from de-shed treatments to a lion trim. See the cat services page or get an instant estimate.
